Bulgaria is going to buy about 225 million cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan by the end of September, Bulgargaz said in a statement
Gas will be supplied through the existing 3.68 bcm connection at the Kula-Sidirokastro border point with Greece due to delays in the construction of the Bulgaria-Greece interconnector (IGB) with a capacity of 3 bcm per year.
It is noted that the transportation of Azerbaijani gas along this route is temporary and will continue for nine months in 2021. The volume of supplies for this period will amount to about 225 million cubic meters.
IGB connection is expected in October 2021. Azerbaijani gas will continue to flow along this route in the agreed volumes.
Bulgaria has reserved 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year based on an agreement reached between Bulgargaz and SOCAR.
