There is a stable growth in oil consumption in the domestic market of Turkmenistan. This is stated in the World Oil Review 2020 report prepared by the Italian oil and gas company Eni
According to the survey, in 2015, oil consumption in Turkmenistan amounted to 151 thousand barrels per day, in 2016 – 149 thousand, in 2017 – 150 thousand, and in 2018 – 157 thousand. In 2019, this figure increased to 165 thousand barrels per day.
Eni also notes that Turkmenistan is investing heavily in the modernization and diversification of the oil and gas industry, the widespread introduction of advanced technologies that ensure deep processing of hydrocarbons, equipping enterprises with equipment and modern technology.
All this makes it possible to ensure the production of high-quality petroleum products and gas-chemical products with improved environmental characteristics that meet international norms and standards, and to reduce the level of harmful emissions into the environment.
The report also notes that Turkmenistan’s oil reserves in 2010-2019 remained stable at 600 million barrels.
