Turkey is counting on cooperation with the Russian Federation in connection with the discovery of a gas field in the Black Sea, said the head of the Ministry of Finance of the republic Berat Albayrak on Tuesday.
As Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said earlier, the Turkish drilling ship Fatih discovered in the Black Sea the largest gas field in the history of the country with an approximate volume of 320 bcm.
“Russia and Iran are countries with which we have been cooperating for many years in the gas sector. And this new period may lead to new cooperation with these countries. Perhaps we will cooperate as a producing country.
Russia is a reliable supplier, and even in difficult times it didn’t leave us, and didn’t hamper the supplies,” Albayrak said on the air of the NTV channel.
According to him, the gas field discovered in the Black Sea will give Turkey the opportunity to buy gas from abroad cheaper, giving it a price advantage of up to 30%.
