“I believe the first production from new gas condensate fields will be received in 2020-2021.” SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said this in an interview to the website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
“Our oil companies are determined to maintain stable production of oil and increase gas production through the development of the fields Karabakh, Umid-Babek and Absheron, and a number of important decisions have been taken to develop these new fields,” the SOCAR head said.
According to him, together with Total, work has begun on the Absheron field, development of the Umid field has been started and work is underway to expand the project. SOCAR President marked the beginning of the main stage of design in connection with the plans for the development of the Karabakh oil and gas field. “Today, SOCAR has reached such a level that, due to its own resources, it is successfully drilling wells with abnormally high pressure and high temperatures at a depth of more than 6,000 meters,” Abdullayev said.
