SOCAR and British Petrofac have set up a joint venture to train oil industry workers.
The parties signed the foundation agreement of the joint venture SOCAR-Petrofac yesterday. In the joint venture SOCAR’s share is 51%, Petrofac – 49%.
“The purpose of the joint venture is to develop the skills and knowledge of oil companies at the expense of the capabilities of both companies. The new company will provide training and staff training services for energy projects implemented in Azerbaijan and other countries on the basis of advanced and modern programs,” said Petrofac’s head of international engineering and production training Karim Oscerian.
According to SOCAR, the organization of trainings will be carried out using the infrastructure of the Department of Training, Education and Certification of SOCAR.
Khalik Mammadov, Vice President for Human Resources, Regime and Information Technologies of SOCAR, noted in his speech that the creation of a joint venture with Petrofac is a timely and very important step. “Cooperation with the world-famous company Petrofac, which provides training services, will be effective and useful for both the State Oil Company and the industry as a whole. The JV will work to train national personnel and, in the long term, to increase the human resources of the region,” he noted.
