Nakhchivan parlament speaker Vasif Talibov in a meeting with Iran’s economy minister voiced his country’s interest in electricity transfer, importing gas, and agricultural cooperation.
During the meeting held in Tehran on Monday, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov discussed his country’s plans for energy cooperation with Iran, adding “we have an annual production of 20 megawatts of solar power in Nakhchivan. This year, we had 80 million kilowatt of energy exchange, and we are ready to increase this volume.”
Talibov went on to voice Nakhchivan’s keen interest in holding talks with Iran on exporting the surplus of their generated hydroelectricity to the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian Minister of Economy, Masoud Karbasian, highlighted Tehran’s strong resolve to expand relations with Nakhchivan.
He noted the ten state visits by the two sides’ presidents during Rouhani’s terms in office, stressing that important tasks were given to the two countries’ joint commissions during President Aliyev’s last visit to Tehran.
Karbasian further called for closer cooperation in trade, tourism, banking transactions, transit, industry, and railways.
