On December 22, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the Agency for Regulation of Energy Issues.
According to the decree published on the website of the head of state, the agency will operate under the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.
The agency is created on the basis of two structures of the Ministry of Energy – the State Energy Control Administration and the State Gas Control Department.
The main purpose of the agency is to bring the quality of public services in line with the requirements of a market economy, to ensure the further development of this industry, transparency and flexibility of the energy supply system, and accessibility of these services to entrepreneurs.
The Ministry of Energy was instructed within one month to prepare proposals for the staff schedule and the agency’s payroll fund.
