Tusk: Gas pipeline between Poland and Baltic countries to affect gas price

Gazoprovod-Pol-sha-LitvaThe gas pipeline from Poland to Lithuania will affect not only relationships between Europe and Russia, but also gas price, said Donald Tusk, President of European Council.

            Tusk said that the gas interconnector Poland-Lithuania project is an example of how intention to create the Energy Union has been coordinated with the various interests of the countries. “ I am glad that the agreement to fund the gas pipeline has been signed, because from the viewpoint of energy safety it has become a practical program with the sources of funding, concrete decision and soon we will have  a concrete implementation,” Radio Poland quotes President of the European Council.

            * The agreements on construction of the Poland-Lithuania gas pipeline was signed in Brussels on October 15, 2015. The European Commission will allocate 295 million Euro from the European Union CEF Fund for the project worth 558 million Euro  and another 10 million Euro will be allocated for the research.
