The discussion on the necessity of diversification of energy deliveries has become more intense latelt after repeated suspension of gas transit from Russia to Europe via Ukraine. EU has adopted the so-called Third Energy Packet, which seriously limits the possibility of development of Russian Gasprom company at the European market.
On April 22 European Commission brought official charges against Gasprom of violation of the rules of competition in the European Union. Since early September 2012 EC has been invstigating three possible cases of violation of the EU rules by Gasprom. EU suspected the Russian holding of limiting free deliverries into the EU member-states by division of the gas markets, preventing diversification of deliveries and fixing unfair prices.
