Any decision to build the pipeline to transport Russian gas through Turkey must be coordinated with the European Union, said Marosh Shefchovich, European Commission Vice President for Energy, said.
During his visit to Turkey Marosh Shefchovich said that EU did not receive any details about the Russian proposal. He added that any plans must be economically viable and be combined with Gasprom’s current long-term obligations to its European consumers, reported FTimes.ru.
“When we talk about big volumes of deliveries to the European consumers, you cannot make a decision without discussing it with EU and European Commission,” Shefchovich said at a briefing in Ankara.
He has also expressed concern about potential disconnection of the current routes via Ukraine in favor of the Turkish Strea.
