From January to May 2014 the volume of production at Azerbaijan’s oil refineries totaled 988,061,100 AZN, reported the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee.
According to the Committee, the volume of production at Baku’s oil refineries decreased by 15.5% against the same period last year.
According to the statistical information, during this period the production of petrol declined by 23.1% to 442,200 tons, virgin petrol by 10.7% to 57,500 tons, kerosene by 14.8% to 251,800 tons, diesel fuel – by 17.8% to 863,800 tons and oil bitumen by 7.6% to 118,300 tons.
From January to May 2014 the production of lubricating oils increased by 26.8% up to 19,400 tons.
Why did since early year production of oil products, especially automobile fuel, decrease? First of all, since April 1, 2014 SOCAR’s Heydar Aliyev oil refinery absolutely stopped production of high-octane petrol Ai-95. In mid-April 2014 SOCAR has started repair of the oil refinery to increase the refining volume and quality. During this period some production units of the oil refinery did not work.
Azerbaijan has two oil refineries – Azerneftyag, which specializes in refining of heavy fractions, and Heydar Aliyev oil refinery specializing in production of fuel and light fractions. This year Azerbaijani oil refineries plan to refine 6.5 million tons of oil.
