The construction of the TANAP gas pipeline, designed to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe, will be completed before the end of June 2018, said the executive director of TANAP A.S. Saltuk Duzyol during the XXIII World Energy Congress in Istanbul.
According to him, all the work on the project goes according to the established plan. “The project is ahead of schedule. First and foremost, we want to complete the docking of the pipelines on the border between Turkey and Georgia, and to the end of June 2018 we plan to complete the construction,” said Duzyol.
“TANAP is a project implemented to a high standard. It is the longest pipeline in Europe and the Middle East, which will provide benefits to all the parties involved. It can also benefit Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – gas producers in Central Asia. It can connect to TANAP Eastern Mediterranean countries in coordination with the Turkish government,” said Duzyol.
He added that Europe via the pipeline will be able to receive 25 bcm of gas annually.
Note that the maximum capacity of TANAP is 31 bcm per year. Six bcm of gas supplied by TANAP will go to the domestic market of Turkey.
