Iran offers State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) to take part in development of Iranian onshore fields, Khoshbakht Yusifzada, SOCAR Senior Vice President, told journalists.
He said on November 28 SOCAR delegation visited Iran to attend the conference, the goal of which is to present the projects in the oil industry, which Iran plans to implement after lifting of the international sanctions.
“Iran has four blocs located in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea, but we have been told that the discussion many not only involve development of offshore fields,” Yusifzada added.
He said that Iran is willing to take part in the development of onshore fields jointly with Azerbaijan.
“We have been told that if Azerbaijan wishes to invest in development of any fields onshore of Iran, Iran will not have any objections,” he added.
Yusifzada also said that during the talks in Tehran SOCAR has submitted the draft memorandum on cooperation in the oil and gas industry to Iran.
“Iran has promised to study the document and give an answer. As a whole the talks with the Iranian Oil Minister and his Deputies have been very successful. Iran would like to work with us and we are also interested in that,” added Vice President.
He also added that there are no disputable fields among the offshore fields offered to be developed jointly with Iran.
“I have personally studied the map to make sure that these fields do not belong to the Azerbaijani sector and they were located within the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea,” concluded Yusifzada.
