LUKoil has submitted a draft agreement to study several big fields for rehabilitation on the territory of Iran to the Iranian said, LUKoil President Vagit Alekperov told journalists.
He specified that he means the fields from Iran’s top seven objects.
He said that LUKoil’s first agreement to study some provinces in Iran, in particular, on the north of the Persian Gulf and in Anaran field area, will expire next year.
“We have also confirmed our interest in returning to Anaran,” he reminded. He believes that the contracts, which Iran has been preparing for the foreign investors, must be more attractive. “The service contracts in Iraq have shown that we can work there, but with higher oil price. With low oil price the service contracts are unprofitable both for the investors and the state and the agreement allows the investor bringing money from the market and the Iranian government could take its own share,” he explained.
“The discussion is in progress, there is no final result yet. We hope that we will clarify the contracts by February,” added Alekperov.
He believes that the investors will be pre-qualified for the Iranian fields. “Most likely part of the fields will be called for bids and part of them will be discussed through the direct talks. We hope to take part in both configurations. Everything will depend on the compensations that Iran will offer,” concluded LUKoil President.
