Turkey has given permission for the engineering survey of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream, reported Gasprom.
The document envisages survey of the first branch of the gas pipeline in the exceptional economic zone and the territorial waters of Turkey.
The offshore section of the Turkish Stream will consist of four branches with the capacity of 15.75 billion cub.m. each. 660 km of the gas pipeline will pass through the old corridor of the South Stream and 250 km in the new direction towards the European section of Turkey. It is supposed that gas export via the first branch of the gas pipeline will be used to satisfy needs of the growing Turkish market.
Turkey has also confirmed that the environmental impact survey of the Turkish offshore section of the South Stream gas pipeline could be used during construction of a new gas pipeline.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said earlier that Turkey could join the project of construction of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream within the limits of its own economic zone. He said by that he means the section about 200 km long, reported TACC.
