The Iranian authorities have urged the European energy companies to invest $100 billion into reconstruction of the gas industry, said Azizollah Ramezani, Director for International Affairs of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).
“We welcome and appreciate investments of the companies. We also welcome new technologies. During the past 18 months we have had many talks with the foreign companies,” Ramezani said in his interview to Bloomberg agency.
Ramezani said that Hamid Reza Araghi, Deputy Oil Minister of Iran, have already had several meetings at the World Gas Conference in June 2015.
“Natural gas will be the main fuel in the coming 20-30 years. Coal will be replaced by natural gas and natural gas will the second most used fuel after oil,” Ramezani added.
Iran plans to increase gas export by seven times up to 200 million cub.m. a day in the coming 4 years, Ramezani added. It is planned to increase production up to 1.2 billion cub.m. a day from the current 800 million cub.m. a day within five years.
