Gasprom’s blackmail and EU gas blockade with the purpose to stop gas reverse to Ukraine has failed. Gasprom’s decision to lift the limit to gas deliveries to Europe, which have been introduced to stop gas reverse to Ukraine, has brought down the prices in the gas hubs to $240 per 1000 cub.m.
On Friday Gasprom suddenly decided to lift the limitation to gas deliveries to Europe via Ukraine, which has been effective in the past six months. This way Gasprom hoped to suspend gas reverse from EU to Ukraine, but it did not happen, reported Interfax-Ukraine.
At the British site NBP gas with delivery dropped to 44.7 pennies per MMBTU ($240.3 per 1000 cub.m.) during Friday. On Thursday the auctions closed with the index of $257 and during a year the market has seen the maximum of $304 on February 12, 2015.
At the Austrian hub CEGH in Baumgarten (it receives Russian gas through Ukraine), the deals with the delivery on Monday are concluded at the price of $243.
