Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has discussed the possibility of participation of the Ukrainian companies in construction of TANAP gas pipeline with his Turkish counterpart Rejep Tayyip Erdogan, write RIA Novosti.
“We have expressed interest in implementation of the international gas transportation projects, in particular the ones for delivery of natural gas from the Caspian Sea shelf and Middle Asian countries and exchange of experience for construction of underground gas storages and conditions of gas storage in the Ukrainian underground gas storages,” Poroshenko said after the talks with Turkish President. “We have discussed possibility of participation of the Ukrainian companies in construction of TANAP gas pipeline,” Poroshenko added.
While commenting on the statement of President Poroshenko, Ilham Shaban, Head of the Azerbaijan Centre for Oil Studies, said that Ukraine’s participation in the TANAP gas pipeline construction is possible. “In 2014 the international tender on three lots within the framework of TANAP gas pipeline construction has been held and the winners have been announced.
However, the tender for the section from Ekskishekhir to Ispala and Greek border has not been held and Ukrainian companies could take part in it,” explained the expert.
SOCAR President said recently that the TANAP construction will start before April 2015.
