Turkey has increased request of volume of gas, which it would like to receive from the Black Sea gas pipeline named Turkish Stream, from 14 to 16 billion cub.m. a year.
Gasprom press office reported that on February 7, 2015 Gasprom President Aleksei Miller has had talks with the Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz in Turkey.
They have discussed the course of implementation of the project for construction of the gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey through the Black Sea and flew over the planned route of the land section of the gas pipeline on the helicopter.
The sides have determined the key points of the route and technical solutions of the gas pipeline on the territory of Turkey. In particular, Kayakei settlement was selected as the exit point to the shore, Lule-Burgas will be the point of acceptance of gas to the Turkish consumers and Epsila will be the way out to the Turkish-Greek border. The length of the gas pipeline will be 180 km.
The length of the underwater section of the Turkish Stream will be 910 km, of which 660 km is the former route of the South Stream.
In the near future it is planned to receive permission to conduct prospecting works on the new Turkish offshore section of the gas pipeline.
The gas pipeline design will take into consideration the growing demand of Istanbul in gas, and the volume, which will be delivered to the Turkish-Greek border, has been specified – 47 billion cub.m.
The capacity of the offshore gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey will total 63 billion cub.m. a year and the preliminary deadline of the completion of construction of the first branch is December 2016.
Gasprom Russia company will be in charge of construction of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
Turkey is the second biggest market of Gasprom after Germany. In 201 Gasprom exported 27.4 billion cub.m. of gas to Turkey. At present Russian gas is exported to Turkey via the Blue Stream and trans-Balkan gas pipeline.
