Since early 2014 till December 31, 2014 a total of 40 million tons of oil was shipped through the Caspian Pipeline Company (CPC) terminal near Novorossisk.
Tanker SCF SURGUT with the deadweight about 158,000 tons received the 40 millionth ton of oil. The destination is Rotterdam port. The tanker has entered the terminal’s water area 50 times.
Achievement of this record result has become possible owing to launching of additional objects as a part of the project to expand the CPC oil pipeline’s carrying capacity. In February 2014 the mobile mooring facility was put into operation on the terminal in addition to the two operating ones. In April 2014 the capacity of the upgraded Astrakhan, Komsomolskaya and Kropotkinskaya oil pumping stations has been increased.
In 2015 it is planned to put into operation new objects to increase the carrying capacity of the system up to 45-50 million tons. Over 379 million tons of oil has been exported through the CPC offshore terminal since launching of the oil pipeline.
The expansion project envisages upgrade of 5 existing and construction of 10 additional oil pumping stations (2 ones in Kazakhstan and 8 ones in Russia), construction of six reservoirs with 100,000c ub.m. capacity each in addition to six operating ones for oil storage near Novorosssisk and the third mobile mooring facility on the CPC offshore terminal as well as replacement of 88 km section of the pipeline in Kazakhstan with the a bigger diameter pipe.
Total sum of investments into the project will reach $5.4 billion.
