Franz Timmermans, EU Senior Vice Chairman, is confident that all European Union member-states would like to create the Energy Union inside the EU able to strengthen Europe’s positions towards Russia.
The new composition of the European Commission intends to create the Energy Union in the EU, which must be able to withstand Russia’s position as the main exporter of energy resources to Europe and make EU more energy independent.
“I have met with the Council for EU General Affairs (at the level of the EU member-states Ministers) to discuss priorities of the European Commission for the next year. Every Minister said that the Energy Union must be the main priority for the EU next year,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.
