On December 12, 2014 Bank of Russia sold $2,383 billion to stabilize the Ruble rate, the bank reported on its web site.
On December 11, 2014 Bank of Russia sold at the currency market $478 million, on December 10 – $206 million, on December 9 – $348 million, on December 8 – $400 million, on December 5 – $1,926 billion, on December 3 – $1.9 billion and on December 1 – $700 million.
Before that the regulator did not perform currency interventions since November 10.
Therefore, during two weeks Bank of Russia sold $5,958 billion.
The regulator warned that transition to free currency does not mean leaving the currency market. The Bank is ready to perform currency interventions, in case of threat to financial stability, writes Vedomosti.ru.
