For the first time since December 22, 2010 average retail price of petrol in the US went down below $3.00 per gallon (about $0.79 per liter), reported the Americam Automobile Association (AAA) on October 31, 2014.
Therefoe, petrol in the US is cheaper than milk, which is in average $3.73 per gallon.
AAA representatives said usually that in autumn automobile fuel in the US becomes cheaper, because activity of the automobile drivers goes down, but this year petrol prices go down faster, because of reduction of oil price at the world exchanges.
According to AAA estimates, thanks to the cheaper fuel the US consumers will save about $250 million a day as compared to this summer, when average petrol price was $3.68 per gallon. The economists believe low gasoline prices must positively affect the US economy.
“When gasoline prices go down and cost of other goods and services does not change, then consumer activity grows. It is good that prices went down in November, because this is the time when many consumers buy Christmas presents,” said Chris Christopher, analyst of the US AHS research company.
The average petrol price in the US is based on the data submitted by the petrol stations throughout the country.
