US Emerson Process Management company has become general contractor of Shah Deniz 2 project automation in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, reported The Wall Street Journal.
The contract worth $40 million has been signed between BP (the project operator) and Emerson Process Management.
As a part of the contract Emerson will provide the integrated systems of control to ensure safe and efficient management of gas production on two new offshore platforms and the new gas refining plant on the Sangachal terminal.
“Choosing Emerson as a general contractor for automation will help BP accelerating the project implementation. Emerson will provide the system engineering, assembly, adjustment and testing through the local service centre Emerson Azerbaijan in Baku,” reads the message.
* The Shah Deniz-2 project worth $28 billion was authorized on December 17, 2013. The gas production as a part of the Shah Deniz 2 is planned to begin in 2018.
