It is planned to deliver the new pipes on the Kashagan field till the end of the first quarter of 2015, said the Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Uzakbay Karabalin.
“The pipes will be delivered ultimately,” Uzakbay Karabalin told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting of the Nur Otan faction in the Majilis (Assembly in Kazakh) of the parliament. “The pipes will be probably delivered before the end of the first quarter of 2015 so that it would be possible to work. Repair work at the field will be completed in 2016, as it was previously reported.”
He said that the contractors have bought about 45 kilometers of pipes for today.
“The purchase of the remaining pipes in German and Japanese companies, with which the participants of the consortium have contracts on supply, is also suggested,” he said. “Therefore, they can take advantage of this opportunity to speed up the pipes delivery, and then the matters of cost and other things will be known. Presumably it may take about $3 billion (for repairs), but the final calculations will be known later.”
