In connection with the future expansion of production at the Heydar Aliyev oil refinery, which specializes in fuel manufacture, it is planned to dismantle the older oil refinery of SOCAR – Azerneftyag (producing oils and lubricants), SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists.
He said the process will begin in approximately 2017, because 7-8 new installations, which are under construction at the Heydar Aliyev oil refinery, will be put into operation in 2018.
Azerneftyag has been operating since the 1980s. Since that time the plant has been upgraded several times. Lately it refined over 1 million tons of oil a year. The current refining productivity of the Heydar Aliyev oil refinery is five times more.
