The studies of the International Energy Agency (IEA) show that part of the African continent to the south of Sahara will deprive Russia of the title of global gas supplier by 2040, if supported by the EU investments, reported Eur.Active resource.
The political leaders have finally made sure that import of liquefied gas from Africa is among the most efficient ways to diversify gas deliveries to Europe.
At the expense of active gas production in Mozambique, Nigeria, Angola and Tanzania, Africa could extract about 175 billion cub.m. of gas a year by 2040.
US will produce 240 billion cub.m. of gas (including shale gas) and Russia – 130 billion cub.m.
From 1990 till 20112 gas production in the countries south of Sahara increased by 7 billion cub.m. up to 58 billion cub.m., reported Africa Energy Outlook IEA released on October 29, 2014 in Brussels.
Dominique Ristory, chief of the European Energy Commission General Directorate, said that the Ukrainian crisis has preconditioned a new level of cooperation between the EU and African countries, reported http://www.rusenergy.com.
