Yesterday 12.50 p.m. local time Keyryaki volcano, which is a part of the State Natural Reserve of Mud Volcanoes of Baku and Absheron Peninsula, erupted, reported the Azerbaijan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
According to the specialists’ estimates, the next volcano eruption is not expected. There is no activity in the volcano. The volcano activity fully stopped yesterday. There is no gas smell on this territory.
The flow of erupted mass of Keyryaki volcano is spread 200 meters long. The widest part of the mass is four meters and the narrowest is ten centimeters.
The last eruption of Keyryaki volcano occurred in 2001.
The activity of mud volcanoes is high south of the Absheron peninsula as well as on the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
