In 2015 Kazakhstan will make the 550th anniversary of its statehood, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev told RosBalt.
“In 1465 Kerei and Zhanibek created the first khanate and this is when the history of Kazakhstan’s statehood begins. Possibly, it was not the state in the modern understanding of this term, it could have different borders and image in the world. But the same could be said about all other states of the same era. The most important thing that the foundation has been laid that time and we continue great deeds of our ancestors,” the agency quoted Kazakhstan President as saying.
Nazarbayev added that Kazakhstan intends to maintain peaceful relationships with its neighbors. “Today our country preserves the traditions of centuries-old friendship and peaceful neighborhood with all nearby states. We always need to take care of these relationships,” he said.
Russian President Valdimir Putin said at the X Russian Youth Forum Seliger-2014 that Nazarbayev has created the state on the territory, which has never had a state before. “Kazakh people have never had statehood. In this aspect he (Nazarbayev) is a unique person for the post-Soviet space and for Kazakhstan as well,” Putin said.
