Aleksei Miller, chairman of Board of Gasprom company, said at the IV International Gas Forum in Saint Petersburg that Russia has entered the century of gas. “If 20th century was the century of oil, then 21st century is the century of gas. The gas market has been developing rapidly. We all have to choose new strategies. There will be no global market, but there will be global players,” said Aleksei Miller.
Chairman of Board of Gasprom said that Russia delivers gas to the European and Asian and Pacific markets. Miller also added that the European market still remains number one for Russia, despite the loss of perspectives of the Southern Corridor. Chairman of Board also added that new approaches to the price formation cold emerge at the European gas market in the near future.
Miller said that “the Asian and Pacific market is the most rapidly growing one. One can suppose that regional competition could be strengthened in this region.” He also added that there are plans to increase volume of gas deliveries to the Asian and Pacific market up to 100 billion cub.m. a year.
