BP, the operator of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) fields development, has changed the plans to suspend the platforms for technical maintenance and repair this year.
In October 2014 only one of two platforms will be suspended for preventive maintenance. It will most likely be Western Azeri, said sources from SOCAR.
Technical maintenance and repair of the Central Azeri, which consists of production and technological platforms, has been postponed till the next year. The technological platform ensures pumping of water and gas to maintain the bed pressure for the entire Azeri.
Gordon Birrell, BP-Azerbaijan President, said earlier that suspension of two platforms would cause reduction of oil production on ACG.
During six months 2014 ACG has had a production decline as compared to 2013. The postponement of repair has been caused by the desire of the companies-project partners to reduce it to minimum.
According to BP, during 6 months, 2014 ACG extracted 16 million tons of oil (118.8 million barrels) against 16.4 million tons from January to June 2013. In 2013 239 million tons was extracted on ACG.
The ACG project partners include ВР (operator) — 35.78%, Chevron — 11.27 %, Inpex — 10.96%, SOCAR — 11.65%, Statoil — 8.56 %, Exxon Mobil – 8%, ТРАО — 6.75 %, Itochu — 4.3 % and ONGC — 2.72 %.
