Another suspension of Azerbaijani gas export to Russia will create no problems between SOCAR and Gasprom companies, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists yesterday.
He said the contract between the Azerbaijani and Russian companies stipulates that the gas deliveries could be suspended any time.
Abdullayev explained that several factors caused suspension of Azerbaijani gas export to Russia. First of all, reconstruction of the gas pipeline and gas distribution system of the northern regions of Azerbaijan is in progress. Secondly, SOCAR has increased the volume of gas pumping into the underground gas storages of the country and finally, the volume of gas deliveries to Georgia increased, because of growing demand.
“Our goal is to prepare for the winter season to have no problems with gas supplies. We will resume gas deliveries to Russia as soon as possible,” SOCAR President explained.
This year in mid-January SOCAR suspended gas export to Russian, because of the repair of the Hajigabul-Mozdok gas pipeline. The transportation was resumed in June 2014, but it was suspended in August again.
In 2013 Azerbaijan delivered 1.37 billion cub.m. of gas to Russia.
