SOCAR and BP-Azerbaijan have agreed to expand cooperation for development of local personnel.
The companies signed the documents on September 1, 2014. The documents include the agreement on cooperation to train local labor force in SOCAR’s Training Centre in Gobustan district and the memorandum on mutual understanding on employment between SOCAR and BP. The agreement has been signed by SOCAR Vice President for Human Resources and Information Technologies Halik Mammadov and BP-Azerbaijan Vice President for Foreign Relations and Security Husein Mammadov. The memorandum has been signed by Halik Mammadov and BP-Azerbaijan Vice President for Human Resources Leyla Novruzova.
As a part of the first agreement BP will take upon itself professional and technical training of 100 residents of Sangachal, Umid, Azimkend and Gobustan districts located near the Sangachal terminal. BP and its partners in the projects in Azerbaijan will cover the costs of one year training.
The second document covers also agreements on production sharing agreement (PSA) in Azerbaijan operated by BP and is the basis of cooperation in field of employment. The memorandum of mutual understanding creates possibility for cooperation between SOCAR and BP in field of hiring local residents.
Halik Mammadov said at the documents signing ceremony that the documents will contribute to training of workers of the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan according to the national standards and demands.
He said the goal of cooperation is to hire more local people, which mean that specialists available at the Azerbaijani labor market will have a preference during hiring.
“If there is a vacancy in BP company and if such a specialist is available in Azerbaijan, the company should not hire a specialists from abroad,” Mammadov added.
Mammadov also “BP should submit a schedule of training of local specialists in certain areas. If certain specialists are not available in Azerbaijan, then we give a permission to hire the specialist from other countries.”
