Russian Foreign Ministry’s envoy Igor Bratchikov said that Russia does not share the opinion on division of the Caspian Sea into the sectors.
Moscow is opposed to division of the Caspian Sea into the national sectors of the littoral states, said Igor Bratchikov, Russian President’s special representative for delimitation and demarcation of Russian borders, Russian Foreign Ministry’s envoy.
“Russia does not share the opinion on division of the Caspian Sea into the sectors,” he said at the press conference.
The diplomat reminded that since the very beginning Russia was opposed to division of the Caspian Sea into the sectors. However, later on Russia has agreed to create the so-called national belts on the Caspian Sea covering the areas of about 25 miles away from the coast.
The IV summit of the Caspian basin states will be held in Astrakhan, Russia, on September 29, 2014 to discuss the Caspian Sea status.
