The world third biggest oil service company Baker Hughes has preferred to change administration of its Russian division. Now Russian citizen will be in charge of the local division. Baker Hughes believes that it will be easier for the Russian citizen to find a common language with the authorities and partners.
Alasdair Shiakh, Baker Hughes President for the Russian and Chinese region, has been transferred to the London office of the company and Dmitrii Kuzovenkov has been appointed head of the Russian office of the company, Baker Hughes top manager told RBC. This measure has been caused by the sanctions imposed by the US and European Union against the Russian oil production industry, the same source told RBC.
The sanctions affect not only Russian oil industry, but also the western one. In early September 2014 the staff of Moscow-based office of another oil service company Schlumberger was changed. About 20 engineers from the Russian division of the company were transferred to other countries. This was caused by the fact that ban on export of high technology has complicated work of these employees in this country. Top manager of the recruiting company working with Schlumberger said that the sanctions have made the company to think about reduction of the staff. “Everything depends on whether the new sanctions will be applied,” he said.
