By 2018 the consortium comprised of Japanese Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd and Turkish Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri will build the plant to manufacture synthetic petrol by transformation of national gas on the basis of technology of Dutch Haldor Topsoe company, reads press release of Haldor Topsoe.
The plant will become the first wide-scale project using this technology. Western media reported on Tuesday that the project is estimated at $1.7 billion.
Dutch company reported that Turkmengas state-run concern acts as an order. The plant will be ready to operation after about four years and its production capacity will reach 15,500 barrels of synthetic petrol a day.
The ceremony of laying foundation of the plant took place yesterday in Owadan Depe, close to the Turkmenistan capital, the company said.
Turkmenistan is on the fourth place in the world on the volume of natural gas resources. However, geographic location and difficult access to infrastructure, including the gas pipelines, has complicated use of this huge natural resource to advance economic development of the country, reported Haldor Topsoe.
