Russian Navigation Register has signed a contract with Baku shipyard LLC to build three high-speed vessels for the 38M crew boat project. The project has been ordered by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company.
The new high-speed vessels will provide services to the fields on the Caspian Sera shelf, including Guneshli, Chirag, Azeri, Bulla, Pirallahi, West Absheron and Chilov.
The vessels will be used to deliver the staff (about 80 people) and various cargo to the floating drilling rigs and other offshore objects of oil and gas exploration and production. The vessels will be able to work about 100 miles away from the shore. Their length will be 38.2 meters, width – 8.20 meters, immersion – 2.25 meters and crew – 8 people.
The building of the vessels will begin in August 2014. The deadline of construction is May 2016. The vessels will have KM HSC crew boat class.
This will be the biggest order since launching of Baku Shipyard in September 2013. Previously Baku Shipyard concluded contract with BP to build a specialized vessel for the underwater works.
Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company closed-type joint stock company was established by the presidential decree in October 2013 by merging the Azerbaijani Caspian Shipping company and SOCAR’s Caspian Sea Oil Fleet.
