German scientists have found special bacteria in the tiny drops of oil. They have published results of their research in the last issue of one the scientific magazines.
They carried out work on Trinidad Island in the Caribbean Sea, reported Informing. Peach Lake islands have a big mass of liquid asphalt. Oil there rises to the surface creating a crust.
Valuable communities of methanol producing bacteria were found in the tiny drops of liquid.
Bacteria changes chemical composition of oil (not to the best). But this could also be useful – this process could be used during cleaning of subsoil waters.
At present scientists continue working.
