South Stream Transport B.V. plans to start construction of the first branch of South Stream gas pipeline in autumn 2014, reported the operator of the offshore section of South Stream pipeline.
The construction will start from welding of pipes aboard of pipe layer Castoro Sei in Burgas port. The first pipes for the offshore section of the South Stream gas pipeline were delivered to the Bulgarian port in May 2014.
In June 2014 South Stream Transport company obtained a permission to start construction on the Russian section.
The shareholders of South Stream Transport company signed the agreement to build the offshore section of the project on September 16, 2011. According to the agreement, share of Gasprom open-type JSC in the offshore gas pipeline project is 50%, Italian ENI – 20%, German Wintershall and French EDF – 15% each.
