Atyrau district court has obliged Agip KCO and NCOC oil companies to pay fine worth 135 billion tenge for damage caused to the environment of the region, reported KAZINFORM.
“On July 23, 2014 the Atyrau district panel of judges has considered the civil case based on the statement of Agip KCO and NCOC companies and failed to allow the appeal,” said Boranbay Galiyev, press officer of the district court.
The oil companies have tried to dispute legality of environmentalists’ checkup through the court and size of fine imposed on Agip KCO and NCOC after gas kick into the atmosphere on the Kashagan field and Bolashak ground complex in October 2013.
“Therefore, the decision of the Atyrau district economic court of April 29, 2014 and finding of the appeal’s panel of judges for civil and administrative cases of the Atyrau district court of June 6, 2014 have been remained unchanged. The decision of the appeal’s panel of judges enters into force since its publishing,” concluded Boranbay Galiyev.
