Rosneft is the biggest Russian oil supplier to the Asian and Pacific region – in 2013 it delivered only 15.8 million tons to China. This year it plans to transport 15.6 million through the Eastern Siberia Pacific Ocean pipeline and another 7 million tons as swap deliveries through Kazakhstan.
In May 2013 Rosneft agreed to sell 6,000,000 tons to Vietnamese PetroVietnam Oil from 2014 to 2039 and the talks on delivery of 10 million tons a year to Sinopec are in progress.
But Europe remains the main market for the Russian oilmen. The Ministry of Energy forecasts that by 2035 export will increase by 3.6% and total 245,000,000 tons, of which deliveries to the West will total about 170,000,000 tons or 70% (now 80%) and to the East – 75,000,000 tons.
According to the Ministry of Energy’s forecast, by 2035 the western direction will remain the main one for the Russian gas export: in 2013 about 220 billion cub.m. of gas was exported to the West, in 2035 it will be slightly more – 240 billion cub.m., but this will still be twice more, than it is planned to deliver to the East. According to the forecast of the Energy Ministry, by 2035 about 120 billion cub.m. of gas a year will be exported to the Asian and Pacific region both via the pipelines and as LNG (liquefied natural gas) – now the deliveries total 10-14 billion cub.m. and all in form of LNG.
Gasprom expects that by 2035 Europe will need additional 225 billion cub.m. of imported gas, because of decline of its own production.
Russia is not only an exporter, but also importer – it needs western equipment for oil and gas extraction: the European and US companies occupy 24% in the structure of deliveries, the share of western equipment for development of shelf and LNG production constitutes 100%. About 70% falls to the western oil service companies, for instance in field of hydrofracking for hard to extract oil, reported Russian Oil.
