In quarter 2, 2014 Russian gas price for Ukraine could be $368.5 per 1000 cub.m., Interfax quoted Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuri Prodan as saying.
Head of Russian Gasprom concern Aleksei Miller threatened earlier that Ukraine could return to year 2009. Among the reasons he mentioned failure to pay for the fuel delivered in February by Naftogas.
Kiev’s debt is estimated at $1.89 billion. Gasprom said that Naftogas owes $1,529 billion, but warned that the sum will grow, because of Ukraine’s inability to pay for the gas deliveries in February.
Since April 2014 Kiev will be deprived of gas discount, which was over $130 per 1000 cub.m. – $268.5 against over $400 per 1000 cub.m. The reason the discount is terminated is that Ukraine is unable to repay its debt for year 2013 and for the fuel deliveries in February 2014.
