At a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Mangistau region, President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev raised the issue of further development of the oil and gas industry, including in terms of the development of new fields in the region.
The head of state recalled his decision to start developing the large Kalamkas-Sea and Khazar fields, the total cost of which is about $ 5 billion. At the same time, he noted the importance of maximum involvement of local companies and personnel in the development of deposits, the press service of Akorda reports.
In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev touched upon the problem associated with the gradual depletion of oil fields and a reduction in oil production by 2030.
To resolve this issue, the President urged to actively attract investments in geological exploration and search for new deposits. An important place in this work should be occupied by the National Geological Survey, which will be created by the end of this year.
