President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev instructed the government in the coming years to reduce environmental risks affecting economic and demographic growth
This instruction is one of the points of the document “Azerbaijan 2030: National priorities for socio-economic development” approved by the head of state on Tuesday.
According to the document, the focus should be on a comprehensive solution to environmental problems that have arisen over the years, and sustainable development in this area.
“The ecological environment must be balanced with economic growth. The existing resources must be restored, unused land put into circulation. The country’s need for high-quality water should be met through the efficient use of water resources,” the document says.
In the strategic period, it is planned to increase the use of alternative and renewable energy sources (RES).
The document emphasizes that in order to meet the needs of present and future generations, it is necessary to expand the use of environmentally friendly “green” technologies.
