Azerbaijan in January 2019 exported 808.36 million cubic meters of gas produced from the Shah-Deniz field to Turkey, which is 36.1% higher than the figure for the same period of 2018.
As noted in the report of the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Council (EPDK), in January 2019, Azerbaijan accounted for 13.91% of the total gas supply to Turkey.
In general, in January, gas imports to Turkey amounted to 5 billion 810.25 million cubic meters (a decline of 6.54% compared with January 2018). At the same time, the share of pipeline gas accounted for 3 billion 469.72 million cubic meters, LNG – 2 billion 340.53 million cubic meters.
In addition to Azerbaijan, gas supplies by the pipeline during the reporting period were made from Iran and Russia.
In 2018, Azerbaijani gas supplies to Turkey amounted to 7 billion 521.15 million cubic meters.
The contract for the development of the Shah-Deniz field was signed in Baku on June 4, 1996 and ratified by the Milli Majlis on October 17 of the same year. Participants in the Shah-Deniz project are: BP (operator, 28.8%), Petronas (15.5%), SOCAR (16.7%), LUKoil (10%), NICO (10%), and TPAO (19 %).
