Intergas Central Asia JSC, a member of the KazTransGas JSC Corporate Group, has received the status of the National Operator of the main gas pipelines under the authority of the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the effective Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Main Pipeline”, the Government is empowered to appoint national operators of such products as oil and gas prepared for the transportation through the main pipelines. Transportation of oil has been assigned to KazTransOil JSC, being the national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan in this field. In the meantime, there was no officially defined national operator in respect of the gas transportation, and those functions were carried out by Intergas Central Asia JSC, a subsidiary of KazTransGas JSC.
The core tasks of the newly appointed national operator include, inter alia, securing the interests of the state and other players engaged in the transportation of the commercial gas through the main gas pipelines to both domestic and foreign markets. Besides, the company will provide for the innovative development of the main gas pipeline network and its integration into the global power system which, in turn, will expand the energy potential of the country through the diversification of the marketable gas traffic.
Within the course of the transportation of commercial gas, the National Operator will also continue to ensure a reliable balance between the export gas pipeline routes and inner consumers connected to the main gas pipelines, which is especially seasonable in the period of winter peak loads on the main pipelines.
KazTransGas JSC is the major gas-energy and gas transportation company of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representing interests of the State both on the domestic and foreign markets. The Company, managing a centralized infrastructure for the transportation of the marketable gas through main gas pipelines and gas distribution network, provides international transit and sales of gas on the domestic and foreign markets.
