Transit of hydrocarbons through the territory of Georgia can become the most profitable in case of reaching an agreement on tariffs, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
“Transport corridors for gas and oil that pass through the Caucasus and Georgia are very important. In this regard, we talked about the importance of the Batumi terminal and the Batumi port owned by Kazakh companies for Kazakhstan. We discussed the issues to solve the problems that exist,” he said after talks with the Georgian President Georgi Margvelashvili in Astana the day before.
“If our ministries agree on tariffs, this way can be the most profitable for China, Kazakhstan and Georgia and will raise the transit opportunities of our country,” the President said.
At the same time, he noted that due to the development of the Silk Road project One Belt, One Way, Georgia has the opportunity to become the same as Kazakhstan as a transit state.
