The main gas pipeline East-West will supply natural gas for the urea production plant, currently under construction in Garabogaz of the Balkan province in the west of Turkmenistan. The ‘blue fuel’ will be the initial feedstock for the future of the enterprise, turkmenportal.com reports.
The new plant built on the shore of the Gulf of Garabogaz will use natural gas and produce nitrogen fertilizers, such as urea and ammonia.
The construction of this factory, which occupies an area of 60 hectares, began in December 2014 under the agreement signed by the State Concern Turkmenkhimiya with a consortium consisting of the Japanese company Mitsubishi Corporation and Turkish Gap Inshaat, which is part of Chalyk Holding.
After commissioning, the plant will produce 1.155 million tons of urea and 640 thousand tons of ammonia per year, most of which will be exported through the port of Turkmenbashi. The plant will provide 900 new jobs.
Currently, the construction of this large object involves more than 3 thousand employees, of which 2,700 are citizens of Turkmenistan.
