The Shymkent refinery (LLP PetroKazakhstan Oil Products) stops for the planned overhaul from 10 October to 12 November, the company’s press service said.
The schedule of activities for the planned maintenance of the Shymkent refinery has been agreed with the Ministry of Energy. For the period of plant shutdown for overhaul all the available reservoirs have been completely filled with the required volume of the commodity output. The overhaul is aimed at improving the production activities of the plant and at increasing the equipment security.
However, all the work planned in the factory as part of the modernization and reconstruction of the refinery project will be continued for the overhaul period.
Kazakhstan has three oil refineries, which are managed by JSC KazMunaiGas – Processing and Marketing (an entity in the national company KazMunayGas). The main activities of this company are the management of oil refining assets, exports of oil and oil products, and the development of retail sales of petroleum products. The company’s assets are Atyrau Refinery (99.5%), Shymkent Oil Refinery (49.7%), and Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (58%).
