Turkmenistan President Gurbangulu Berdymohammadov has instructed the government “to analyze the situation arisen in the world economy and take proper measures to prevent negative processes in the economy of the country.”
This statement has been made at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers devoted to discussion of socio-economic development of the country in January 2014.
“Because of the economic crisis caused by slump of oil and gas prices, we were forced to take non-standard measures,” said Turkmenistan President. He added that prices for some products and services have gone up. “We have reduced manat rate against the free convertible foreign currency,” President added.
From January 1, 2015 for the first time in the past six years the Turkmen manat rate increased from 2.85 to 3.50 manat for 1 USD. Petrol price has also gone up from 62 tenge to 1 manat.
“Since early this year salary of all employees, pensions and state welfare has been increased, which has allowed making up the costs of the population caused by rise in prices,” continued President. Every year salary goes up by 10% in Turkmenistan.
Among the primary measures in the conditions of world economic decline President named revision of a list of buildings and facilities, construction of which is scheduled to begin this year, adoption of the program to increase the volume of export of local products abroad and acceleration of pace of the reforms to improve operation of the state agencies.
